The Judge passed down a sentence to the defendants of 3400 yuan per day fine or 6 months in jail.\u00a0 This is a landmark ruling as it is the first time Taiwan has recognized Japanese adult video as being protected under copyright laws of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants claimed that adult video was not protected as it lacks artistic merit.\u00a0 The judge ruled otherwise. Taiwan has become a member of the WTO (World Trade Organization) and has been pressured to protect the commerical and copyrights of fellow members.<\/p>\n<p>Back story: Two men had pirated a DVD and sold it in two locations for some time.
