SANTA ANA, Calif. \u2014 A federal judge last week signed off on a $20.4 million judgment against the operator of a now-defunct porn membership site accused of poaching and streaming 272 videos from a competing Japanese-language porn site owner, Dreamroom Productions.<\/p>\n
The copyright suit, originally filed more six years ago, charged that the operator of Movie-Revolution.com, Koji Ban and parent company HHSI Inc. of Irvine, Calif., ripped the films from Dreamroom’ s collection of sites, which include sexually explicit video and stills of Asian women in bukkake, glamor, bikini and fetish scenes, as well as hentai video sites.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles-based Dreamroom Productions operates Japanese-language porn sites MuraMura.tv, PacoPacoMama.com, 10 MuseMe.com, 1Pondo.tv, Carribeancom.com and Heyzo.com, among others.<\/p>\n
In response to the suit, Ban claimed that Movie-Revolution.com was merely a file locker site and that users uploaded the material. However, that claim later was found to not hold water.<\/p>\n
Dreamroom Productions, which owns copyrights on the videos, filed its suit in 2008 and won a 2011 permanent injunction against Movie-Revolution.com.<\/p>\n
The $20.4 million judgment represents statutory damages of $75,000 for willful infringement of each of the 272 Dreamroom Productions copyrighted works applied in the case.<\/p>\n
